My testimony

I would like to share about my life with you all and praise God for giving me such great opportunities. When I was born, God saved my life as the umbilical cord was wrapped three times around my neck. When I was 2 years old I was asleep at the Yacht club while my Father sailed and my Mother was looking after me. They ring a bell when the yacht’s cross the winning line. I didn’t get disturbed when the bell was rung but continued to sleep. So my parents had a doubt as to how I managed to sleep so peacefully. Then the doctors here confirmed that I was born with a hearing disability.

Then my parents decided to take me to the UK for treatment and stayed there for 6 months. They confirmed that I was hearing impaired. After all the tests were completed I was fitted with hearing aids. This was the beginning of the long and hard road that lay ahead of me. But my Parents and my brother never gave up on me they continued to encourage me and love me for who I was.

In 1998, I went to USA for a check up. They fitted me with new hearing aids. My new aids were better than my old aids. It was very clear and comfortable. I believe that God guided us.

In 2003, I was not happy with my job so I moved to another job. I was very happy in my new job as my employers were Christians and they were very nice to me. The experience I gained helped me to understand what I wanted to do better.

In April, 2005, I was planning to go to Singapore first but they said they didn’t have facilities at Lasalle so I had to cancel my flight then I went to Malaysia to find university then they accepted me to study at Limkokwing, and my Mother and I went to Australia to check other universities. They didn’t have the course that I wanted to do. Then came back to Sri Lanka. That’s the time I received an acceptance letter from Lasalle and they gave me a tuition grant from MOE. I preferred to study in Singapore. My mum wanted me to study in Singapore coz it’s a safe place and since I was accepted with a tuition grant as well. After much thought and prayers I decided to take the offer in Singapore and here I am.

My mum was looking for a roommate to stay with me. Then I met a lady and her daughter at orientation. She was from India and she was a Christian too. So I stayed with them for one year. Which was a relief for my mum and my family as I was on my own for the first time. I was stressed with my projects in the first semester then went back to Sri Lanka for Vacation. Semster 2, was better coz I prayed to God before I came back to Singapore. Then I passed my foundation level. God has helped me in my studies. I believe God guided me in everything.

Now, I go to City Harvest at Singapore Expo. It’s a great place. God led me to the place. I would like to thank Nihara for her love and friendship and for having taken me to Expo for the first time. Here I have great friends and it has been a pleasure to have met all of them. I was encouraged to share my testimony and praise God for everything in my life. I pray that those of you who have not shared your blessings to also share them to encourage others to love God the way I have loved Him and also being loved by Him.
